ABOUT COLAC SECONDARY COLLEGE

HISTORY

/  OUR ROOTS

01

Colac Secondary College is the result of the merger between Colac High School and Colac College.
While the College officially came into being on January 1st, 2008, it carries with it the rich legacy and traditions of both schools—together representing over 140 years of educational history in the Colac community.

The College is set within a beautifully landscaped environment that features active play spaces designed for all three of our Learning Communities. Students benefit from stand-alone, modern facilities for Science, Art, Technologies, Music, and Performing Arts. In addition, they have access to the Bluewater Fitness Centre and the Colac Community Library, further enriching their learning experience.

LEARNING

02

/  LEARNING COMMUNITIES

Colac Secondary College offers modern, purpose-built learning spaces designed to meet the needs of 21st-century students.
Each classroom is thoughtfully designed based on the science of learning, with an emphasis on reducing cognitive load and creating environments that help students stay focused, engaged, and ready to learn.

Our school is organised into three distinct Learning Communities:

  • Years 7 & 8

  • Year 9

  • Years 10, 11 & 12

Each Learning Community provides a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where students are guided by a consistent team of teachers and support staff. This structure fosters a sense of belonging and ensures that students receive the right support at each stage of their development.

Our contemporary learning spaces are designed to minimise distractions and enhance clarity, helping students process information more effectively and retain what they’ve learned—enabling every student to reach their full potential.
