LEARNING SUPPORT
“Disability Inclusion is a recent Education Department initiative. It comes with a new tiered funding approach and strength based process to identify students strengths and needs. Students from Year 7-12 requiring additional support are provided with the opportunity, alongside their parents/carers to discuss short term and long term goals in a termly Student Support Group (SSG) Meeting. Students are supported in class by the curriculum being suitably modified/differentiated, along with provisions for further accommodations/adjustments to the learning environment. The following small group intervention programs are running at Colac Secondary College to support students at their point of need:
-
Literacy (Sounds Write)
-
Numeracy
-
Gym program
-
Shopping/cooking program
The Learning Support space is available during break times for students with additional needs, individualised support or to come and say hello to our friendly staff.
Disability Inclusion is about making positive change that builds a culture of inclusion.”
